Farewell Sleepy Hollow Lane

Sleepy Hollow Lane

After almost two years on the market, farewell to Sleepy Hollow Lane. It has been a hectic eight weeks or so and we did not want to say anything for sure until the deal was a “done deal” I suspect the neighbors had a clue with all the activity and moving, especially the way WE move. Ed does not believe in moving vans so everything was moved out in the SUV and pickup. When we put the house on the market many months ago, we cleared out quite a bit but good grief we still had quite a bit to go through and move. Many boxes were donated to Hospice and the Cancer Society and I still have things to go through that we moved that I did not have time for. The couple that bought the home are very excited and I wish them good luck and many happy times at Sleepy Hollow, it is a comfy house and lots of room for growth.
We have many fond memories of our first home together. All the holidays, decorating the entire house and fences for Christmas. Having a lovely dining room for family and friends to enjoy the holiday meals. Easter was always special also, with the huge yard all the grandkids, nieces, nephews and friends had a great time hunting for eggs and we always lucked out with nice weather. Ed would always find a few with the lawn tractor after the festivities but that is all part of it. The sleepovers where the family room was covered with sleeping bags and kids sleeping after wearing me out . Spending time in front of the fire (pellet stove) just the two of us, watching TV, reading or just relaxing was especially nice.
Ed did a lot of work on the grounds. When we moved in there was a huge pile of dirt in front of the house, the only grass was around the pool. Within two years the front lawn was put in and the back pasture was made into a gorgeous lawn. Many hours were spent on that yard and he loved doing it. The one thing missing now is the playhouse, we had to take that down several years ago but the kids enjoyed it for quite a few years. I would find strange things in that playhouse. The kids also enjoyed the “forest” aka the redwood trees. Now there I would find my towels or blankets that were made into forts among other household items.

Wishing the couple that now occupies Sleepy Hollow Lane, much happiness, good times, fond memories, I am happy the house is now a home again.

Many happy memories but it is time to move on and be a permanent resident of Amador County.
